  • We are Permanently Closed

After serving Oak Harbor since 2006, I have closed my doors officially. I am still on Whidbey Island, but no longer offering photography services or learning classes on a regular basis. I am only offering Preschool Portraits for Ms. Ashley's Preschool in the spring.

Past clients may be able to purchase digital images from their past sessions if they are still available on my archive drives. Contact me for more info.

If you are a photographer inquiring about the possible purchase of my props and/or backdrops, many of my items are listed on Facebook Marketplace. Feel free to contact me for direct links or to inquire about anything you see in y portraits that you are interested in to see if they are available.

Thank you for trusting me with your family portraits since 2006. I loved working with you all.

Just a Few – Mini Session

Just a quick session for some pictures to make up for those sometimes-not-so-flattering school pictures. Fit in this 30 minute session before this family went off on a road trip that same day. I think they probably took less than 30 minutes, maybe more like 15. This was my first time working with them and they were perfect. They caught on quick the posing dos and don’ts , they are pros now. And of course, they did not leave empty-handed – everyone got candy! Yay!

This Dress Won’t Stop Me – 1st Birthday Session

I’ve been photographing this family since the eldest was in her mommy’s tummy. I see them every year and the session is always silly but very quick. Older sister A and brother H always come in ready to begin without a fuss or wanting to run and play too much. Like I said, their session are usually quick. But then came the youngest one, little C (I’m giggling inside as I write this). Mom and I have been friends for years so she came in and said, “Oh, she is my crazy one.” and I knew exactly what she meant.

C was a bundle of energy, curiosity and busyness. She is also a daring and brave little one. That dress didn’t stop her from climbing and twisting and turning. Mom stayed cool and collective while C’s daring feats almost gave me a heart attack one after another. I always have parents “spot” their kids and not take their eyes off them… usually it’s for the parents comfort so they know their child is safe with them right there. This time, mom did the spotting for me, so I knew her little girl was safe.

We were not sure if she would be willing to sit and lay long enough to get a few images with her siblings. It took some major silly faces, noises and other distractions to keep her in one position long enough. But we did it! SCORE!!

Then she was back to her self, on-the-go! I laugh now, but I was so nervous as she climbed, jumped, and what seemed like diving head-first toward the floor. But she left without a scratch or bruise. She was hyped up on sugar and happy as can be from beginning to end. That’s what matters! Happy baby, happy siblings and happy mom. Oh, and happy photographer too. 🙂

Get The Silly Out – Mini Session

When we started, he was not quite sure about it. The last time I had seen him was for his 1st birthday, and that was 2 years ago. But soon he was just a ball of silliness. Smiling, laughing and full of energy. We thought we had almost lost him when we added his brother and sister in for a sibling image. He did not seem to want their company but a certain little piggy caught his attention and I caught them all smiling. Then it was back to being silly again. I added a few of his “silly” images below as well.

I used the same backdrop as my school portrait sessions because his older siblings had participated in those and so I thought it would be great to have them all match in their home.

It was sad to learn that this may be my last session with this family. They may be moving in a few months since dad is retiring from the military. It will be sad to see them go, but grateful for social media which will keep us connected. 🙂

Due Right Before Christmas – Pregnancy Session

Well, my floors are finally done. I still have not taken any pictures of the “after” because I had no time. I had to get to my storage unit and bring back the minimum needed for sessions I had scheduled the very next week after they finished. So I will have to update you all on that later.

Until then, here is a sneak peek for this adorable family. Mama is due a few days before Christmas. We kept this session simple, yet fun. The kids have been here before so they were eager to please in order to see my “pig” and “funky chicken”. They were so patient as mama strutted her stuff in a few gowns. It was the sweetest thing to hear soon-to-be big brother say, “You look beautiful” to his mom. Yes, she does look beautiful.

Another Floor Update – Will it Ever Get Done?

I bet you have been waiting to see the completed project and my new floors. Sigh…. So have I.

As you may have read in my other update post, we had some set backs when preparing for the new floors. During installation, we have had a few more setbacks. Here’s a list:

DAY ONE

  • Water valve (that connects to clothes washer hose) was leaking. Ended up causing a puddle in the laundry room and they had to wait to let it dry before installing.
  • Water in the house had to be turned off completely until we got the valve replaced which was a day later. (That was fun)

DAY TWO

  • Everything was going great, they were going to finish that day. …Until they had to move our entertainment center. It is very heavy and so we put it up on a glider that had wheels so it would be easier for them. It was working great until the had to move it to the area of the floor that was already finished. It was so heavy that the wheels were indenting the new floors. AHHH!!! They had go back rip out new floor and replace the planks. That took a whole day. I felt so bad.
  • Installer mentioned that he may not have enough floor to finish. WHAT?!

DAY THREE

  • They ran out of floor. Installer said even if he did not have to replace the other dented planks, they still would have ran out. They measured it too tight and so they called it in to order more, packed up and that was it. They were gone.
  • Our floor boxes included smaller planks which he did not use a lot of except in certain spaces. So we have a lot of small planks left. (You can see them in above picture)

As of right now 3/4 of my house is done yet I cannot bring anything back in because they decided NOT to put in the baseboards until the floor is completely finished. I got back my stove/oven but a majority of my pantry is also in boxes that are packed in my garage. We have no DirecTV since the main box was installed downstairs and it has to be reinstalled since a line originally came through a hole in the floor. And there is no way we are drilling a hole in the new floors (they are coming today to see how they are going to reinstall it). So Netflix and AppleTV have helped. My kids have discovered old toys and board games they used to love and they are enjoying those again.

I was able to bring back my appliances but the washer/dryer will have to be moved out again when they come back, which will be after November 8th (since the floors won’t be delivered until at least November 5th).

As you can probably tell, this delay now furthers the delay with my session schedule. I have already had to push back 3 sessions. I am not scheduling anything else until I have more info on when this project will be done completely. This was not part of the plan. This is NOT how this was supposed to go. This has been a lesson in patience, contentment and appreciation for my family and I. So far we are not going bonkers. Here’s what’s helping…
