Laundry plus Arts & Crafts Display Room – Work in Progress

I love so many different styles that it’s always been hard to narrow down a particular look I want for anything in my house. Pinterest is like a nightmare to me sometimes. I sometimes think I have a particular look I want, then change my mind after a few days of planning. Bleh! This is why I don’t have tattoos. I know I would end up wanting it somewhere else, a size bigger or smaller, a different color or a completely different design all together. Yep, I’m THAT difficult with myself.

My laundry room is not big. It’s something you must pass in order to get into our downstairs bathroom. It’s an obvious area and something I wanted to try to make look “pretty” or at least more appealing. It had begun to collect small items my kids had made throughout the years. It still collects little things here and there and I need to really start moving things around. (This is one thing I am tackling throughout my whole house in the next coming months) Anyway, since art work and crafts were already hanging on the walls in one corner, I figured it was time to add some more to very big empty space above the washer & dryer. After months (maybe years) of planning, I finally finished one little project I wanted to do.

My kids are getting older and I always wanted to frame their handprints. I am an authorized dealer for The Organic Bloom and took advantage of it by ordering some heart frames when I saw them available. I then dragged my kids to the arts & crafts store to pick out their colors (acrylic paint) and bought some watercolor paper. Once the frames were delivered to my front door it was then a matter of finding time to get them done. As always, one was willing (6 yr old), one was unsure (9 yr old) and the eldest was being bothered by it all (13 yr old). But the fact that it was a quick & easy task kept them happy. They received candy/donuts as well.

I stil have to buy some organizing totes and get some other things on the walls, but I am happy that this is done. I am happy that I don’t have a stack of frames being moved from place to place so they don’t get messed up. I’m happy that I finally froze a moment while they are young.

If you have any ideas, suggestions and/or advice for me, feel free to comment. I’ll post updates as I get this little room looking the way I want it to. 🙂
