“My Daddy Rocks!”

That’s what her shirt said! And what a perfect little shirt it was! A few days later, daddy left on deployment. So, it was a great little sign of how much daddy is loved! Little “I” kept us all on our toes, but with time and a little bribery, she was smiling and having fun! And that’s what is most important – FUN!

For those of you not in our area… Deployment is common happening here where we live on Whidbey, we are a military town -home of Naval Air Station (NAS) Whibdey Island. My husband too, will also be going back to deploying very soon. So, my heart always goes out to the spouse, whether it’s the mom or the dad who stays behind to take care of the mortgage, the trash, the parent/teacher meetings, dentist appointments, the laundry and most importantly – the children.  It’s a tough job to take over it all while trying to stay strong during those days of feeling alone, overwhelmed and just plain tired. So KUDOS to all of you, who like me, are left behind for a few months (sometimes a year) and manage to keep everything in order while your spouse is away!

And of course, THANK YOU to all of you who sacrifice your time away from your families so that we may have the freedom and ability to enjoy every thing we do everyday in this country! YOU ALL ROCK!
